a letter from our president |
Hello! My name is Natalie Bender and I have the honor to serve as the 2023 President of the Alpha Chapter of Pi Alpha Chi. When I came to UNL, I had no idea how much Pi Alpha Chi would help me to grow both in my faith and in my leadership skills. These women have been the best support system in the ups and downs of college and are some of my best friends and biggest role models. As you browse through our website, I hope you can get a glimpse of why these women are all so unique and why our sisterhood is so special. As Pi Chis, we strive to live out our motto – a quote from one of our patronesses, St. Catherine of Siena – “Be who you are meant to be, and you will set the world on fire.” My sisters and I live out our motto by celebrating each woman’s individuality and unique gifts given to her by God. We believe that each woman in our sisterhood has the ability to make a lasting impact on her sisters and her community by following God’s will for her life. The women of Pi Alpha Chi also live by four pillars: scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and fellowship. We are proud of our semester GPAs and encourage each young woman to put her undergraduate education first by participating in study hours and study groups. Pi Chi is intentional about cultivating leadership skills in our members to help her grow in organizational and personal goals that she can practice on campus and in her community. We are proud to represent two organizations that support women through our philanthropies: St. Gianna’s Women’s Home and Project Rachel. We strive to form our women to be socially responsible and give back to the community. Finally, we believe that our shared sisterhood is a great asset to our members’ undergrad education. We challenge one another to grow, support one another through ups and downs, and strive to truly love one another as Pi Chi sisters and sisters in Christ. Throughout my time in Pi Alpha Chi, I have strengthened previous friendships and met new dear friends, I’ve been inspired by the women around me to be the best version of myself, and most importantly I have been encouraged by my sisters to fall more deeply in love with Christ and His church. To the women of Pi Alpha Chi (past, present, and future): Our bond as sisters in Pi Chi has meant so much to me, and you have helped shape me into a young woman filled with dignity and grace. You have truly been such a joy in my life. Thank you for your constant support and love – I honestly don’t know where I would be without you all. Know of my prayers for each one of you! To potential new members: I am SO excited that you are considering our chapter! Recruitment can be stressful, but I encourage you to take a chance and join the sisterhood. You will meet your study buddies, your shoulder to cry on, your hype woman, and learn so much about yourself through your time in sisterhood. Pi Alpha Chi has contributed immensely to my growth as a woman and leader. I am excited for you all to get to experience the joys of sisterhood! To parents and others: I am happy that you’ve taken an interest in our chapter! Take a look around and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions. I hope you can see how special Pi Alpha Chi – Alpha Chapter is. With PAX and love, Natalie Bender
